Well, we finally made it to Michigan (northwest of Traverse City), we've been here for a week now and it's time to purchase a tractor. Price is a concideration for us after the move from Chicago and all. A little about our property: seven acres, not to hilly pretty flat, sandy loom soil no clay, all woods except for about 1/2 acre of field, which we will turn into a meadow garden, so no mowing. We plan on creating a path in our woods approx. 1900 feet in length. Cut trees down to clear for a pole building and hauling soil ovver to one end of our property to create a berm(sp) aout 3' high to plant some pines on. After that the tractor will be used for pulling the ocassional fallen/leaning tree down and snow blowing. Last season we had about 128" of snow.Least amount I'm guessing average snow fall to be around 90" lately. One big year in 1987(?) 237" fell. But I would not size the machine for that. I started out looking at the BX2200 and decided not enough clearance for woods work. Then progressed to the B7500 with LA302 front end loader and B2660 snow thrower, loaded R4 tires and block heater,2410,2710 and B7800 with LA402 loader and B2782 snow thrower. The question I have is about HP.I was told the 7500 would suffice but would take longer to complete the tasks at hand (this is fine with me) I just don't want to kill the machine with the snow removal. I reallize that the B2782 has a beefier trans. Prices out the door are$17.5k to $22.5k. Any help would be greatly appreciated. SORRY FOR THE WORDY QUERRY. Forgot to mention that our driveway is a little over 500 feet long.

For the move you are looking at go for the three range transmission. You will appreciate it while covering distances and still having good digging power. ....
